	Abstract:	The Cleveland Business Economists Club was founded in 1926 representing Cleveland's (and sometimes Akron's and Canton's) leading industrial companies, public utilities, banks, investment firms, merchants, colleges, and governmental statistical staffs. The group met informally for two years before officially incorporating in 1928. In October 1961, the group named itself the Cleveland Business Economists Club. Members met to discuss business matters and to make predictions concerning the economic future of Cleveland, Ohio. The collection consists of minutes, economic forecasts, correspondence, histories, meeting announcements, and membership lists for the Club and its predecessor, the Business Statistics Section of the Cleveland Chapter of the American Statistical Association. The collection is useful for understanding a segment of Cleveland's business community, the speakers and issues they were interested in, and the predictions they made for Cleveland's business future.

	Abstract:	The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women (f. 1935) is a national nonprofit organization founded in New York City whose mission is to "promote and protect the interests of African American business and professional women; to serve as a bridge for young people seeking to enter business and the professions; to improve the quality of life in the local and global communities; and to foster good fellowship." It contains six districts in the United States and one international division. The Cleveland Club is a part of the North Central District of the national organization which was founded in 1965. The Cleveland Club provides leadership development and networking opportunities to professional working women in Cleveland and northeast Ohio. It also awards college scholarships to youth and increases awareness of economic, educational, and other social issues facing the Black community through community service. The organization's most popular event, the Annual Founder's Day Breakfast, attracts local and national speakers to discuss a variety of domestic and international topics, as well as honoring women's occupational achievements and commitment to volunteerism with professional and student awards, and the prestigious Sojourner Truth Award. The collection consists of articles, certificates, correspondence, event programs, invitations, lists, newspaper clippings, notes, photographs, and tickets.

3	Title:	Swiss Hall Company Records

	Abstract:	The Swiss Hall Company, located in Cleveland, Ohio, incorporated in 1919. In 1917, members of various Swiss immigrant groups, including the Schweizer Maennerchor (later the Swiss Singing Society), the Schweizer Verien (Swiss Society), Schwiezer Turn Verein (Swiss Turner), and the Schweizerischen Frauen Verien (Swiss Ladies Aid Society) established the Vereinigte Schweizer Vereine (United Swiss Societies) for the purpose of finding a permanent home for the various Swiss Societies. The Swiss Hall Company purchased the old Tuxedo Hall, 2710 Walton Avenue, which became the focal point of Swiss community life in Cleveland. Eventually, the Schwiezer Damenchor (Swiss Women's Chorus), the Dramatic Club, and the Ladies Sewing Circle joined the four founding organizations as stockholding members of the Swiss Hall Company. The Company was responsible for the management and maintenance of the Hall, and eventually for screening and admitting applicants for the individual social societies. Sometime between 1928-1933, the Swiss Hall Company purchased land on Brecksville Road as a summer recreation ground referred to as Swiss Grove or Swiss Farm. The Farm was sold in 1948. In 1993, the Hall was sold and the Swiss Hall Company was disbanded. The collection consists of minute books, account books, financial reports, membership records, and correspondence.

	Abstract:	The Four-In-Hand and Tandem Club Company was formed in Cleveland, Ohio, "to furnish facilities for and to promote an interest in four-in-hand and tandem driving and other athletic and outdoor exercises for the amusement, recreation, health, and profit of its members, and to acquire and own property convenient therefore." 	Abstract:	Paul Gebhart was the art director for Stouffer Foods in Cleveland, Ohio, and an active member and long-time secretary of the Cleveland Society of Artists, which was founded in 1913 as the successor to the Arts Club and was disbanded in 1983. Gebhart was associated with the art department of Stouffer Foods from at least 1943 to 1960 and, as art director, supervised the art work for menus and other publications. The collection consists of administrative materials for the Cleveland Society of Artists; also menus and advertisements for Stouffer Foods, and miscellaneous advertisements, some signed by Gebhart.

	Abstract:	The Country Club was founded in 1889 in Cleveland, Ohio, as a private club for the wealthy, as an extension of the Bit and Bridle Club. The first clubhouse was located at Eddy Road and Lake Shore Boulevard. Members included Samuel Mather and Tom L. Johnson. In 1895, the Cleveland Golf Club opened as a subsidiary of the Country Club. The original clubhouse was destroyed in 1898, as was the second clubhouse in 1906. The Country Club remained on Lakeshore Boulevard until the late 1920s, when it moved to Lander Road in Pepper Pike, Ohio. The collection consists of one ledger book, containing membership lists and financial records, including expenses, employee wages, and operating expenses for the restaurant.

	Abstract:	Kenyon Castle Bolton was a Cleveland, Ohio, businessman and philanthropist and son of Chester and Frances Payne Bolton. He served in the military, beginning in 1936 as a member of the 107th Cavalry of the Ohio National Guard. He entered active service in 1940, served during World War II and attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was president of Cleveland Air Taxi, a helicopter taxi service, and had a strong interest in higher education and the arts. Bolton served with the Council of Foreign Ministers in 1947 and 1948, the Austrian Peace Treaty Conference in 1948, and was special assistant of the U.S. ambassador to France. Kenyon C. Bolton was married to Mary Riding Peters, and had five children. The collection consists of family data, personal records, military records, business records, and records of Bolton's organizational involvements, including correspondence, newspaper clippings, genealogical data, summary court papers, air travel cards, contribution lists, articles, brochures, advertisements, contracts, personnel files, and press releases.

	Abstract:	The Singers' Club of Cleveland, a male chorus in Cleveland, Ohio, was begun informally in 1891 at the Central Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) by Homer B. Hatch and Carroll B. Ellinwood. In 1893 the organization formally became known as the Singers' Club of Cleveland and is still active today (2015) under the direction of Dr. Melvin P. Unger. 	Abstract:	Charles Asa Post (1848-1943) was a businessman and historian, of Cleveland, Ohio. His works on local history include Doans Corners and the City Four Miles West (Cleveland: The Caxton Company, 1930); "The Cuyahoga, the Crooked River that Made a City Great," 1941; and Those Were the Days (Cleveland: The Caxton Company, 1935). The collection consists of correspondence (1927-1941), research notes, and preliminary and final copies of an unpublished ms. on social clubs in Cleveland; personal papers, including correspondence (1917-1918), journal (1930-1935), and letters (1930-1931) received by Post from recipients of his book on Doan's Corners Ohio.

	Abstract:	The Cleveland Society was founded in 1923 and composed of American businessmen and professionals of Polish descent in the Cleveland, Ohio, area who promoted citizenship and fostered the language, traditions and culture of Poland. The group was a spin-off organization of the Polish National Alliance. In addition to sponsoring an annual debutante ball, the membership raised money for Marymount Hospital in Garfield Heights, Ohio. The collection consists of a constitution, membership roster, minutes, correspondence, programs, newsletters, and newspaper clippings. The collection is relevant to the study of an elite ethnic social club that tried to assimilate some of the characteristics of upper class American society while simultaneously retaining their cultural identity.

	Abstract:	The Meadville Crawford County Picnic Association was formed when a group of Cleveland, Ohio, families, originally from Meadville and Crawford County, Pennsylvania, gathered in 1917 for a picnic at a lakefront park in Cleveland. Each year thereafter, a picnic was held at either Edgewater Park in Cleveland, or Lakewood Park in Lakewood, Ohio. The association also sponsored luncheons, dances, and theme parties throughout the year. The collection consists of minutes, receipts, budget statements, correspondence, flyers, membership lists, and attendance records.

	Abstract:	The Rowfant Club is a Cleveland, Ohio, club open by invitation only to men of diverse business and professional interests whose bond is a love of books, book collecting, and the art of bookmaking. Organized in 1892, the club chose to identify itself with Frederick Locker-Lampson by adopting the name of his Sussex County, England, estate, "Rowfant." The club insignia, groundhog and candles, are used in initiation and election procedures. The collection consists of committee reports, fellowes' meeting reports, correspondence, articles, scrapbooks, meeting notices, financial records, tax records, insurance records, copyright information, resolutions, drafts of various Rowfant publications, publication lists, and various member files. The collection also includes non-correspondence relating to Rowfant auctions, candlesticks, book holdings and the Friday lunch club. Included are its yearbooks, 1974-86. The collection is useful for those interested in book collecting and bookmaking, members and participants in this organization, and men's clubs in general.

	Abstract:	The Rotary Club of Cleveland, Ohio, is a chapter (f. 1910) of the national organization, devoted to community service activities, especially helping disabled children. The Cleveland chapter helped form the national and Ohio branches of the Society for Crippled Children, and by 1954 had donated $200,000 to the Society. In 1941, Cleveland Rotarians established the Cleveland Rotary Foundation which by 1953 had spent $150,000 on various projects and had a principal of $90,000. By 1980 it was still the second largest Rotary club in the world. The collection consists of histories, constitutions, minutes, a list of charter members, correspondence, announcements, publications, and national Rotary material.

	Abstract:	The Women's Advertising Club of Cleveland, Ohio, is a professional association of women in the advertising and public relations industry in Cleveland. It was founded in 1919 by several of the first women copy writers and commercial artists in the city. Early members included DuMont Grant, advertising manager of Halle Brothers Company, and Freda Gonder, Belle Hoffman, and Ruth Jenkins of the May Company. Others were employed in various advertising offices of department stores and women's specialty shops. As advertising expanded and more women found employment in the field, the club soon included those working in radio and television broadcasting, public relations, printing, direct mail, ad specialties, and newspapers. In addition to professional concerns, the group maintained an extensive social schedule, including benefit activities and community contests. Betty Ott was an active member of the club. The collection consists of minutes, committee reports, correspondence, publications and printed material, financial reports, membership rosters, conference materials, program information, and scrapbook material.
